Anybody else going to the switchfoot concert in Calgary tonight?

These type of things really piss me off. Not because I’m overly religious, honestly I’m not a hardcore Catholic, but I believe in it in my own way.
No these things piss me off because I see no reason to insult anyone for their belief or disbelief in God.
It’s pretentious to push your beliefs onto someone else, right?
So then why push the disbelief of God onto those who believe?
I think religion gets too much crap sometimes. I know a lot of people who believe in God ardently because when they had no one to turn to, the church and bible were there for them. My mom was one of those people, when she was alone in the U.S with only a few dollars or when she was in Mexico, 15, and kicked out of her home with no where to go, or when her only child was crossing the desert to get into the U.S as a teenage boy, she turned to God.
So no, religion doesn’t fucking mean you can’t think for yourself.
It means you can think for yourself and you choose to believe in God. It doesn’t make you any dumber or smart whether you believe or don’t believe.
/End rant
^ So true. Beautiful rant.
I’m not religious, and religion crosses my mind like once a year, but people have the right to believe in what they want. This guy, however, doesn’t have the right to judge people or religion like this.I agree with everything you said. And honestly this applies to every religion.
It’s pretentious to push your beliefs onto someone else, right? So then why push the disbelief of God onto those who believe?
You are so true here. And like I said, it really does apply to all religions.Well religion isn’t just blind belief or lack of thinking at all. There’s even a passage in the Bible which says to “question everything.” You’re supposed to use faith and reason, and it’s not as if rational, intelligent people can’t also be religious or spiritual.
